DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING

High-quality animal diagnostic imaging facilities in Cranbourne

At Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital, we have state-of-the-art diagnostic facilities at our clinic to ensure the very best treatment for all the animals in our care. This includes diagnostic imaging equipment so we can carry out X-ray procedures and diagnose various conditions and ailments.

Our modern digital X-ray machine can produce high-quality images instantly, so we can quickly pinpoint what’s wrong with your pet if anything shows up. Our team is fully trained and qualified to use the machine, and it can allow for faster intervention when it comes to treating your pet.

Our state of the art ultrasound machine allows more in-depth, non invasive imaging of internal organs and we have an experienced ultrasonographer here at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital able to perform ultrasounds most days of the week.

Our diagnostic imaging facilities are used to:

  • Examine the chest and abdominal cavities for pathology, including fluid accumulation and tumours. This is where the ultrasound machine excels as it provides dynamic 3 D imagery of the internal organs. Being able to view inside the abdominal organs such as the liver, spleen, intestines, kidneys, adrenals and bladder is important when looking for tumours and other pathology. Within the chest cavity, ultrasound is important in diagnosing fluid accumulating around the heart, known as pericardial effusion and using the ultrasound as a guide, this fluid can be drained.
  • Examine the gastrointestinal system for foreign bodies such as socks, bones, rocks etc. The X-ray machine is more diagnostic in this case.
  • Examine the skeletal system for fractures, arthritis or other pathology, such as tumours. This is where the X-ray machine comes into its own as it is far superior for examining the skeletal system in more detail. As both our X-ray machine and ultrasound generate digital images, this allows us to email the images  to specialists quickly and easily if their input is required. This means there will be minimal delay in diagnosing and treating your pet, no matter what the condition.

When it comes to animal care, our team at Casey and Cranbourne Veterinary Hospital is committed to providing the best quality services at all times. We constantly invest in new equipment and continually update our skills to ensure that your pet will always receive the most reliable treatment.
